L U X I _ Colour balance: sardinian soils.

The project was born in Sardinia thanks to the proposal of the artist Isabella Breda, during her artist residency at the creative residence Ventanas in Villamassargia. The key theme of the project is to highlight the chromatic variety of the lands, their transformation into a coating for the interiors and the relationship between colour and surface applied to the interior design. The word Luxi means light in the Sardinian language.

The key themes are: the enhancement of the chromatic variety of the Sardinian lands, their transformation into a coating for interiors and the relationship between colour and surface through a targeted research and development of textures and decorative techniques applied to the coverings and interior design.

The stratigraphy of memory lives in the stones that make up the landscape from the rough and primordial morphology of Sardinia, and the colour reveals a part of it.

The soils were collected from different places in southern Sardinia within a radius of about 90 km. Other types of coloured soils will be added to these, in order to obtain a chromatic range of the soils of the entire territory. The right mixtures were obtained through tests focus on identifying the clay content in each soil and through a careful selection of colours and a certain chromatic research aimed at the possible combinations of tones.

From bronze white to lava brown through the shades of red mixed with violet, the soil becomes a refined surface and the textures recalls the designs of Pibiones, Sardinian traditional textile.
